Bully at the workplace
Today I presented the topic of bullying in the workplace/school and discussed it with the clients. The topic is essential for creating a good working atmosphere and avoiding problems, meaning that every employee in the workplace should use nice and appropriate words with colleagues to discuss various topics. For example, if an employee notices that a colleague has made a mistake, they should criticize the colleague neutrally or politely show them the correct way so that they do not make the same mistake again. Otherwise, it would not be good if the employee were to mock or sarcastically interpret it, making the colleague believe that they cannot do anything or underestimate them. The colleague likely did not make the mistake intentionally and needs support. I also highlighted different types of bullying, such as verbal bullying and physical bullying.
1- Bullying based on an ethnic or religious affiliation.
2- Bullying due to a success story: If an employee is exceptionally qualified and achieves many successes and receives recognition for it, his colleagues try to bully him out of envy to block his way.
3- Bullying through aggressive behavior to scare the victim so that he does not say anything.
4- Verbal bullying through insulting words that violate human dignity.
5- Physical bullying through hitting, attacking, or inappropriate physical contact to control, dominate, intimidate, or humiliate the victim.
6- Bullying because of appearance.
I have also explained the consequences of bullying and the steps the victim can take to resolve the issue. Psychological consequences: Bullying leads to a loss of self-confidence, a loss of reputation and trust at work and in school, etc. It results in dangerous outcomes, such as the victim becoming a bad person who wants to take revenge on the people or the place where they were bullied because it affects their feelings. Therefore, the victim must not remain silent when being bullied; they must report the incident to management or their supervisor immediately.
2- A conversation must be held with the employee.
3- If that doesn't work, a penalty or warning must be issued.
4- Regarding bullying in schools, it is essential to pay attention to this and educate the students about it. Since the students are underage, they need to know that if they are being bullied, they should talk to the administration. Alternatively, if they are shy, they should discuss the issue with their parents to receive immediate support.
5- The consequence of not speaking out against bullying or ignoring it leads to even more difficult outcomes, as the psychological pain and suffering worsen, and later the bad memories remain in their minds if the problem is not resolved immediately. The topic was very appealing to the client, who found it very important and shared a lot about their experience with it.
